Examen: Worship Committee Evaluation for Holy Week 2007

Worship Committee: please use the following questions to focus your thoughts, reactions and comments about the services during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. Include any positive and negative reactions to each service you were present. Add comments from members of the congregation if they were expressed to you. Your comments and our discussion will help evaluate our weaknesses and strengths in worship as we look to plans for the future.

Include: Sundays during Lent and Midweek Vesper Services but focus mainly on the following services in your evaluation: Holy Week: Palm/Passion Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Technical aspects of worship:

1. Time of service

2. Usefulness and clarity of bulletin

3. Length of service

4. Space: lighting, chairs and seating, accessibility, directions/clearly stated location

5. Use of readers – enough, too many, too few?

Content of the services:

1. Did each of the services provide a distinct purpose? Clear goals and were they achieved?

2. List one or two things that were most meaningful to you during Lent?

3. If you could change one thing what would it be?

4. If you could add one thing to the season, what would it be?

5. Would you recommend that the Worship Committee offer midweek Lenten services and Holy Week services again next year.

6. Did each of the services lead to the next? Did they flow with purpose? Were you fulfilled at the end?

7. Did the services help contribute to a meaningful Lent and Easter Sunday for you and Westminster ?
