welcome Bill Owens, new elder; Bud Smith, Deacon Representative to the
Worship Committee and Rev. Alex Thornburg. I. Education and “Examen” A. Education: 1. Review Directory of Worship sections W-1.4000 – W1.4009 from the Book of Order and our Roles and Responsibilities
of the Worship Committee in the preparation for implementation of the
worship services at 2. Worship @
Westminster Class: April 23 – Review the recommendations from the class: a.) Include
the wording of the Book of Order in the sections of the b.) Include
information in the bulletin about the next worship service in the bulletin to
help member prepare for the next service. c.) Look at
possibility of having meditation time in the chapel before or after the
service. d.) Examine ways to help the congregation
to prepare for and evaluation the e.) In
order to keep the congregation informed of worship committee issues and activities,
give a Worship@Westminster report in the
newsletter. B. Examen: Discuss possible follow up Worship Committee activities to educate, inform
and examine and help prepare the congregation for worship services at - Formulate a “Statement of - Another Sunday morning education
class? Or Sunday evening potluck and class? - Newsletter
article on worship committee – November? Liturgical Season brochures? - How to use
of the lectionary as a devotional guide? - Congregational
town-hall meetings on different topics? Sound-off sessions? II. Worship Components A. Pulpit Concerns: - Pulpit Supply: Review
the July pulpit supply process and implementation. - Define a process
and list the procedures for - Worship committee member to be responsible for future
pulpit supply? B. Music Report: C. Sacraments: 1.
Baptism - The worship committee could formulate a statement on
baptism to be used with parents and families with children being baptized: when,
where, how often baptisms occur, who meets with the family, the instructions
before, during and after the baptism. 2.
Communion - Communion: Who decides the method of communion? When do
they decide? Who determines how often we have communion? What are the factors
that determine communion by intinction? What is the process that goes into
effect at that point? - For World Communion Sunday, October 1, Marian Bauer will
teach the youth and children about the sacrament of communion and help
prepare different types of bread from around the world for our communion
service. They will bring the baskets of bread to the communion table from all
entrances to the sanctuary as the minister processes at the beginning of the
service. They will symbolically come in from the east, west, north and south
to celebrate communion with the rest of the world. (Those who regularly
prepare the communion elements should be notified of this.) - Determine when communion will be
served during Advent Season. Worship services during Advent: Dec 3. – Worship and Communion

placed in the sanctuary for Rally Sunday and in to the Pentecost Season. -

discuss the 2007 advertising budget: the process, the products and
effectiveness of our print communications used throughout the year in
newsletters, bulletins, newspaper and yellow pages. Prepare a budget to send to Session for
