I. Education and “Examen”

A. Examen: discuss the second half of the article written by the Sacraments Study Group of the PCUSA, “Invitation;” discussion led by Alex Thornburg. Bring definition of worship and liturgy.

B. In terms of our definitions of worship and liturgy, examen recent worship services:

1. Which specific items in our Order of Worship reflect our definition of worship?

2. For what reasons do some items in our Order of Worship change during the month and/or year? Are these changes appropriate? Do you feel comfortable with these changes? Can you suggest other changes?

3. How could our sanctuary better reflect our definition of worship and liturgy? What liturgical elements should be included in our sanctuary?

II. Worship Components

1. Review World Communion Day service – notes for next year

2. Approve Worship/Communion Calendar for the 2007 year

3. Discuss the use of and letter to past elders and deacons to enlist their services as communion servers during the 2007 calendar year.

III. Budget Items:

A. Advertising:

1. Review the 2006 and discuss the 2007 advertising budget: the process, the products and effectiveness of our print communications used throughout the year in newsletters, bulletins, newspaper and yellow pages.

2. Advent:

- Begin discussion of the ads to be used during Advent

- Advent brochure: discuss the components on worship

B. Discuss which budget funds apply to the Worship Committee.

A. Liturgical Elements

- Nov. 19 -Thanksgiving Sunday: the Westminster congregation will offer groceries as part of their offering during the worship service on Thanksgiving Sunday. With the help of the youth, the Worship Committee will be responsible for bringing the bags of groceries to the Yuma Street entrance where the food donations will be picked up by Allied Drive Food Pantry before Thanksgiving day. When, where and how can we most effectively and strategically use the grocery offerings in the sanctuary?

- Paraments:

What paraments does Westminster have? How are they stored? In what condition are they? What seasons and events do they cover? What do we need and want?

- Font: location and what is in and on it

- Communion table: location and what is on it

- Walls, windows and inner space

- Pews: Discuss what should be included in the pews?

- Hymnals and Bibles located in the pews. How many and what needs updating and upgrading?

- Mission Year Books

- Other items: Deacon materials, welcome materials, pencils and welcome information.
